"Freedom" was my first elephant painting. I have always loved elephants, especially the African elephant. Upon completion of this painting, I decided to give it to my son, who lives several states away and was feeling lonely for his family. "Freedom" is a reminder to him that just as the elephant family loves each other forever, his family will also love him forever. I am proud to say that "Freedom" has been featured in Wildlife, Our 4-Legged Friends, and Beauty. Thank you for your interest in my work.

I asked myself, “When can you call yourself an artist?”. The answer came when I realized that I was creating unique, exceptional works of art. Friends and family began asking me to do paintings for them, and it was then that I felt that I deserved the title—artist. I am a former teacher who has chosen to leave my profession to pursue a career in art. Although I love to teach, painting makes me feel alive - giving me a feeling of freedom and a sense of being in control. I find that it allows me to escape to a place that is both invigorating and peaceful, and that I am my absolute happiest when I am at my easel.
